We’ve been everywhere*, man.

NC3 OSOM is based in Victoria and operates nationally, providing pilot and escort vehicle services for oversize, overmass, and abnormal load movements across a large portion of the Australian mainland. Whether it’s Darwin, Brisbane, Townsville, Melbourne or anywhere in between. We also work with a trusted national network of pilots to support client needs when additional coverage or availability is required.

*NC3 OSOM is currently not certified for Western Australia or Tasmania. However, we regularly pilot loads to the WA border and coordinate with appropriately certified pilots to ensure movements continue safely and compliantly when required.

Here are a few of our most commonly asked questions. Something else on your mind? Feel free to Contact Us and we will aim to be in touch with you as soon as possible.

  • ‘OSOM’ stands for “Oversize and/or Overmass”, referring to large, heavy vehicles carrying loads beyond standard road limits. This term is common in Australia to describe large infrastructure and renewable energy components.

  • An OSOM pilot vehicle company provides escort and support services for oversize and overmass loads travelling on Australian roads. This includes route planning, traffic control coordination, compliance with state regulations, and ensuring the safe movement of abnormal loads from pickup to delivery.

  • Pilot or escort vehicles are required when a load exceeds standard legal dimensions for width, height, length, or weight. Requirements vary by state and territory, as well as by road type and travel time. As an experienced OSOM provider, we manage these requirements to ensure full compliance before your transport begins.

  • Yes. NC3 OSOM supports permit coordination and detailed route planning to identify road restrictions, bridge limits, traffic conditions, and required escorts. This reduces delays and ensures oversize and overmass transport runs smoothly and legally.

  • Using an experienced OSOM pilot vehicle provider improves safety, reduces the risk of fines or delays, and ensures loads are managed professionally under Australian road regulations. Skilled operators understand changing conditions, state-based rules, and best practices for moving abnormal loads safely.

  • Every OSOM job is different. Pricing depends on factors such as load size, route length, state requirements, travel time, and the number of escort vehicles required. The most accurate way to determine cost is to contact NC3 OSOM with your job details for a tailored quote.

  • Yes. NC3 OSOM regularly supports urgent and short-notice OSOM movements. While availability depends on timing, location, and permit requirements, the team will always assess what’s possible and move quickly to support time-sensitive transport jobs.
